Upslope the forest becomes more acidic (red oak-red maple). Downslope the forest becomes more mesic with codominance by tulip poplar. The Reverie trail is located North and West of the plot.;Open deciduous forest of Quercus rubra-Fagus grandifolia. The forest floor is covered with a host of fern species. There is an obvious browse line on the S1, S2 and H strata. There are several old barkless stumps in the plot but no signs of modern era logging < 80 years. There is a nice height class diversity here except for everything palatable below 1 meter tall.
